About Us
Teerapong Jaro (Mon) opened Karst Climbing in Ao Nang in April 2019. Mon has been climbing and working as a guide in Railay and Tonsai since 2006. He began climbing with his uncle Saree of Viking Climber, and fell in love with the sport. He moved to Tonsai to train under his uncle and dedicate himself to climbing and learning to guide. As a younger climber Mon tested his skills at some international climbing competitions but ultimately preferred a more laid back approach to climbing. He instead tested himself by climbing nearly every route in Railay and Tonsai. Over the years Mon has climbed at crags throughout Thailand and his international experience includes climbing trips to Austria, Laos, and China.
With more than a decade of experience, Mon decided to open Karst Climbing in Ao Nang with the motivation of providing the best quality of rock climbing instruction and adventure based on a passion for sharing an incredible experience with guests from around the world. As Karst Climbing grows, we look forward to welcoming more top-notch instructors to our team.

My partner and I went out with Mon for an all day climbing trip. Mon was fantastic. With great skill and lovely nature, he assessed us pretty quickly and accurately and catered to our capabilities perfectly. And challenged us to make it special. Was an awesome day. I took a 3 day climbing course with Karst and enjoyed it thoroughly! I chose this company because Lauren was very clear and responsive in answering my questions over email prior to booking which was super helpful! Mon was my guide and I’m pretty sure he could climb every inch of rock in Railay in his sleep. He’s a really knowledgeable climber, and as a beginner I appreciated his guidance very much. I ended up having a lot of 1:1 instruction which I could tell a lot of the other climbing shops might not be able to offer because they have bigger groups. I would book again with this company!

Just returned from a trip to Thailand and the highlight was definitely a full day of climbing with Mon. The location was amazing and he picked out the perfect routes. We were a group of varying grades in rock climbing and there was something for everyone. One of our party wasn't well on the day and Mon went out of his way to arrange a lift back to the hotel. Hands down the best experience in Thailand and a great guide for all abilities.

We booked a full-day climbing trip and had a fantastic time. Our guide was always friendly and helpful, teaching us the climbing basics before picking routes that were perfect for our (beginner to intermediate) skill level. The equipment was proper and we felt safe at all times. We had the chance to climb in a more quiet spot before going over to Railay Beach which is rather crowded with other Climbing groups, but still fun. All in all, we enhanced our climbing skills, had lots of fun and a stunning view on Railey Beach. You definitely get your money's worth.

Mon is an extremely informative and friendly guide. The region is remarkable and the climbing is diverse. I highly recommend the full day trip because you get to rappel from a cave that’s far from the other tourists on the beach. 10/10 would climb with Karst Climbing again (and honestly I probably will before I leave Thailand).
