About Us
Teerapong Jaro (Mon) opened Karst Climbing in Ao Nang in April 2019. Mon has been climbing and working as a guide in Railay and Tonsai since 2006. He began climbing with his uncle Saree of Viking Climber, and fell in love with the sport. He moved to Tonsai to train under his uncle and dedicate himself to climbing and learning to guide. As a younger climber Mon tested his skills at some international climbing competitions but ultimately preferred a more laid back approach to climbing. He instead tested himself by climbing nearly every route in Railay and Tonsai. Over the years Mon has climbed at crags throughout Thailand and his international experience includes climbing trips to Austria, Laos, and China.
With more than a decade of experience, Mon decided to open Karst Climbing in Ao Nang with the motivation of providing the best quality of rock climbing instruction and adventure based on a passion for sharing an incredible experience with guests from around the world. As Karst Climbing grows, we look forward to welcoming more top-notch instructors to our team.

I took a 3 day climbing course with Karst and enjoyed it thoroughly! I chose this company because Lauren was very clear and responsive in answering my questions over email prior to booking which was super helpful! Mon was my guide and I’m pretty sure he could climb every inch of rock in Railay in his sleep. He’s a really knowledgeable climber, and as a beginner I appreciated his guidance very much. I ended up having a lot of 1:1 instruction which I could tell a lot of the other climbing shops might not be able to offer because they have bigger groups. I would book again with this company!

I thoroughly enjoyed my top rope climbs and lead climbs/belays. My instructor knew how to pace the course and challenged me in a way that I can accomplish it. Completely recommended for those who have climbed before and for those who have not (there were some beginners who did very well too).

Mon is an extremely informative and friendly guide. The region is remarkable and the climbing is diverse. I highly recommend the full day trip because you get to rappel from a cave that’s far from the other tourists on the beach. 10/10 would climb with Karst Climbing again (and honestly I probably will before I leave Thailand).

We had some happy climbing with pickup for a fine price. Guide (Mon) was nice and friendly - set up toprope and let us belay each other. Equipment was a bit worn, but safe. Nothing to complain about 🙂

Spontaneous idea to do this for the first time - and am so glad I did. Individual expert tuition by Mon, who seemingly knows every inch of the rock faces. And a shout out to Lauren too for leading the way. Couldn’t have been more satisfied climbing in such a beautiful place. A great holiday experience.
